The classroom observation tool is an instrument used to assess the quality of teacher student interactions in classroom. It is essential for providing pedagogical support to the teachers as well as help for achieving learning outcomes to the students. In this context the Directorate of TE &SCERT has developed a classroom observation tool from the month of June-2024 for the DIET faculties of the state. According to the instruction of the Direcorate, DIET Sundargarh, Sankara organized one day orientation programme on this tool for 200 numbers of CRCCs of the district in a phased manner i.e from Dt.01-07-2024 to Dt. 04-07-2024. Miss Sasmita Naik, Sr.TE and Sri Sugyanananda Kusum, TE acted as R.P on Dt.01-07-2024,Sri Sarbeswar Das, Sr.TE and Smt. Damayanti Padhan, Sr.TE acted as R.P on Dt.02-07-2024, Sri Budharam Kisan Sr.TE and Sri soumyaranjan Mahallik, TE acted as R.P on Dt.03-07-2024 and Smt. Sujata Kalo, Sr.TE and Miss. Mamata Padhan,TE acted as R.P on Dt.04-07-2024.

OBJECTIVES:-

  • To orient the Crccs on the different indicators of class room observation.
  • To understand the teaching learning process of both the teacher and the students.
  • To identify the weakness of the teacher in classroom transaction and provide onsite pedagogical support.
  • To identify the resourceful teachers.
  • To help the students to achieve grade specific learning outcomes.

INAUGURATION OF THE PROGRAMME:-

At first Smt. Lipika Behera principal of our DIET inaugurated the programme by lightening the lamp before lord Ganesh and told the objectives of this programme in brief. Then the review of the previous MCM JUNE-2024 was taken from the CRCCs. After that the sessions were taken by our resource persons.

DISCUSSION POINTS:-

SESSION-1

In the first session our resource persons discussed vividly the indicators for FLN grade(Class I-III). There were four responses against each indicator such as

Yes- More than 70%

Partially- Between 40% -70%

No- Less than 40%

Not Applicable

The indicators were as follows-

  • Students working with print rich materials
  • Linking text with day to day life experiences
  • Decode matra and letters
  • Writing independently with worksheet and work book
  • Reading with the help of teacher
  • Teacher relate lesson note with LOs
  • Teacher giving focus on decoding ,reading and writing
  • Teacher followed CRA method while teaching Numeracy
  • Manage multi grade class properly
  • Giving much time to students
  • Consolidation of text by the students
  • Providing individual feedback to students.

SESSION-2

In the second session our resource persons discussed the indicators for Class IV -VIII. These were as follows-

  • Providing positive feedback to the students
  • Use of flow-chart, pictures and models by the teachers
  • Use of E-resources
  • Correction work providing individual feedback to students 
  • Use of C-R-A method for achieving Foundational Numeracy
  • Involving students properly in multi grade situation

CONCUSION :

In conclusion, it can be said that the CRCCs knew the the different indicators of classroom observation tool from this orientation program and accordingly they will aware the teachers about the indicators so that it will help for the achievement of quality education of the students. At 4.30 p.m of each day the program ended with vote of thanks to the participants.
